Accessibility
How this siteworks for everyone.

Where this stands right now
We want anyone to be able to use this site, including people who navigate with a keyboard instead of a mouse, or who use a screen reader. This page says plainly what we've actually checked so far and what's still open. We'd rather tell you the honest state of it than write something that sounds finished before the work is.
Checked: keyboard navigation
We went through the home page, Services, About, Contact and the Our Work gallery using the keyboard alone: Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space and Escape, with no mouse, in the Chrome browser. We tabbed through every link, button and form field.
- Every link, button and form field can be reached and used with the keyboard alone.
- Every one of them shows a visible highlight when it has keyboard focus, so you can always see where you are on the page.
- The mobile menu button opens the menu, keeps your keyboard focus inside it while it's open, and the Escape key closes it and sends your focus back to the button. We found no point where the keyboard gets stuck.
- A "Skip to content" link is the very first thing a keyboard user reaches on every page, so you don't have to tab through the whole menu to get to the page itself.
This was a hands-on check of how the pages behave, not only a read-through of the page code. It was done in Chrome only, so other browsers and devices have not been tested separately.
Not yet checked: a screen reader
We have not yet tested this site with a screen reader such as NVDA or VoiceOver, and we are not going to claim that we have. That test is still to be done. Checking the page's structure is not the same as a person listening to it read aloud, so we won't call the screen-reader side finished until that has happened.
What we can say honestly in the meantime: the page headings are in a sensible order, every form field has a real label and an error message tied to it, every image has a written description, and the whole site is plain, semantic HTML rather than a custom interface built from scratch. Those things tend to help a screen reader, but they are not the same as testing one.
What else we've built in
- Text and buttons are set up to keep their contrast against the site's dark and light backgrounds.
- Nothing on the site auto-plays sound or flashes.
- Motion (the page's scroll animations) is reduced automatically if your device is set to prefer reduced motion.
Something not working for you?
If you're using this site with a keyboard, a screen reader, or any other assistive technology and something doesn't work the way it should, tell us. Call 604.704.5867 or email info@allphaseservices.ca and tell us which page it happened on and what you were trying to do, and we'll look at it.
If any of this changes
We'll update this page and change the date at the top once the screen-reader pass is done, or if anything else here changes.
